[post_content] => Chelgate has over 20 years of unique experience in the education sector. Our clients have included leading independent schools (both secondary and primary), FE colleges, examinations boards, and international and UK-wide educational suppliers.
Our work in the sector clients spans a range of client needs, and is delivered on a number of different levels. Our clients are schools or educational providers who want to develop or protect their reputations. We understand the diverse audiences that schools in the state and private sectors have to address, and we understand the special social conventions and channels of communication that prestigious, established schools must manage.
As strategic consultants, Chelgate will often work with schools’ senior management to review and implement strategies designed to protect and promote reputation, and to shape critical relationships with key publics and stakeholders.
Often, our strategic work will also address significant issues facing a school, whilst our crisis management services (
link to crisis management page) are called upon both to prepare against crisis, and to respond to crises when they occur. Crisis preparation work can range from an audit of existing procedures to preparation of crisis plans and training of crisis team members. We also create and direct full scenario crisis rehearsal days, and if a crisis does strike we can deliver all appropriate support resources, from strategic counsel to hands-on media management (including social media), as required.
Education clients will frequently have internal or external resources already providing day-to-day marketing and media relations support. In these cases, the strategic service provided by Chelgate is tailored to complement and integrate with these existing resources.
At other times, Chelgate is asked to provide a full marketing support public relations service, ranging from brand development to media relations and online promotion (including website, Twitter, Facebook etc., as required).
For several schools we have assisted with the filming of fly-on-the-wall documentaries for television. This included initial discussions and negotiating the agreement with the production companies and television channels, assisting with issues during the filming, determining likely issues when the series were to be aired, and preparing the school for media following broadcast. One was the BAFTA-nominated series, Educating Essex, which prompted a significant level of media interest.
If you would like to discuss how Chelgate could support your school or business in the education sector, please contact Terence Fane-Saunders by email, or call 020 7939 7939.

[post_content] => Over the last 30 years, some of Chelgate’s most effective corporate PR and public affairs work has been undertaken in the energy and utilities sectors. We have an impressive record, working for the world’s largest oil company, the UK’s leading cable provider, the UK’s largest gas company, the country’s radioactive waste authority, one of London’s waste authorities, and on the UK’s largest renewable energy project, the Severn Barrage.
Our experience spans the breadth of the entire sector encompassing oil and gas, nuclear, renewables (wind, solar and tidal), waste, waste to energy, biomass, cable installation and shale rock exploration and hydraulic fracturing (fracking).
The work has varied considerably in nature, but almost without exception it has been managed in an atmosphere of intense public and media scrutiny, sometimes hostile, a highly charged and sensitive atmosphere in which the perceived activities of the organisations as much as their communications have had a direct bearing upon their reputations and market valuations. Recent decades have also witnessed a massive rise in the importance of an organisation’s environmental accountability or corporate social responsibility (CSR).
Our work has embraced contributions to legislation and select committees in the UK, wider political affairs work with the EU and Council of Europe, building alliances of interest, issues and crisis management, and contract bid support, as well as media relations, environmental consultancy, creative services, marketing support and digital services.
We have also undertaken significant planning support work surrounding energy projects. This has included political and community auditing, stakeholder engagement and community consultation work – further details of these services can be found on our Chelgate
Local website.
For further information about our energy and utility public relations and public affairs services, please contact Michael Hardware on 020 7939 7989 or

From the country’s nuclear waste repository to the Severn Barrage, and from the remodelling of the UK’s most celebrated square to various new settlements, Chelgate has an impressive track record in infrastructure over its 30-year history.
Planning support work surrounding infrastructure projects, included political and community auditing, stakeholder engagement and community consultation, is undertaken by our planning communications division, Chelgate Local – further details of these services can be found on the Chelgate
Local website.
